So the desire for starting a business online business is calling you. You have some great ideas; have a lot of enthusiasm your ready to start. You’re going to make a large amount of money and be your own boss. Well, wait a minute, regardless of the claims of how easy it is to get rich off the Internet. You will find starting an online business is no different than starting a business in the non-virtual world. Maybe you need to consider some things first to make this profitable and mistake free.

When contemplating starting an online business you need to take an honest look at yourself. What are your skills? What kind of interests do you have? Many people started their online business in the fields that they worked. A graphic artist could start a web design company or produce custom graphics. You will also want to think of the type of jobs you truly enjoy.

Do your homework to start your online business. Do not make the mistake of putting all your efforts, money and time into a service you want and try and find a market for it. You can not make people like your service or product. Instead find out what the consumer would like and then design a service or product to fit that need. Also, just like a real world business there is a certain amount of risk. By doing your homework you can lessen that risk by finding something people will buy and for how much. This allows you adjust your costs to make sure of a profit.

Here is what John Seaman Garns has to say about find a service or product  in his book, Prosperity Plus, “Find out your neighbors needs, find out what they want most and then get ready to supply those needs.”  This is a great little book, it was written in 1938.  Wisdom is ageless.  He goes to write, “For money is a “come-back” and only pours into our laps when we are giving significant service to society.”

You also need to study your competition. Find out what they are doing and what works or what doesn’t work. The more information that you have in regards to the market and your competition the better chance of success you will have.

Starting your online business you need to have a plan and follow it. What will it cost to start? Where will you get that money? If you are going to ask for a loan you will need to have a business plan to present to the loaning institution. It is a good idea to have a business plan even if you are funding your online business yourself. It will give you some set goals to look at.

To get your online business going you will need to make a time commitment and keep it. It will be difficult to keep a full time job and work on your new online business. You probably will not be able to accomplish that unless you set a specific time to work on it. Starting an online business and making it profitable enough for you to work full time on it does take some time.

You have done the required research, taken the time and made the commitment for your online business. You feel that now have a great product that the world wants and priced that they can afford and you make a profit. You have one more thing to consider marketing. Your customers need to be able to find your product so they can purchase it. This can be done online, offline, or a combination of them both. You will need to continually study what works and what doesn’t until you find what works for you the best. However, remember what works today, may today may not tomorrow and be able and willing to change your approach to marketing as the consumers dictate.

With any online business you will need a domain name, a website (I believe a blog is the best form of website) and a hosting company. You can buy a domain from GoDaddy.com and I will provide a FREE blog and FREE hosting.

I own MyProConference & Hosting and I will host your site for you for FREE. There is a small one-time set up fee of $67. You may be wondering who is Duane Spears and why should I trust him. That is a valid point. My servers are with Kiosk Hosting which is the same company that many of the more famous Internet Marketers use for their websites. We have 24/7 support.

Stephen Daniells writes on the website nutraingredients.com that the Mediterranean diet, vegetables and nuts comes out on top for heart health. I believe you will enjoy and find his article informative. It is time we all took better care of our hearts. Olive oil is essential to the Mediterranean diet and to be healthy, strong, and energetic throughout our lives, our bodies require a broad range of essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other micronutrients. The USANA’S Mega Antioxidant contains USANA’s patented Olivol® olive-fruit extract, an ingredient that cannot be found in any competitor’s multivitamin/mineral formula..

The Mediterranean diet, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins C, E and folate, is the only dietary pattern associated with a lower risk for heart disease, says a new review.

According to findings published in this week’s Archives of Internal Medicine, modest relationships were found supporting omega-3 fatty acids, folate, whole grains, alcohol, fruits, fibre and dietary vitamins E and C and beta carotene, for reductions in the risk of heart disease.

On the other hand, trans-fatty acids and foods with a high glycemic index (GI) were associated with detrimental effects on heart health, wrote the researchers, led by Andrew Mente, from the Population Health Research Institute.

“Although investigations of dietary components may help to shed light on mechanisms behind the benefits of dietary patterns, it is unlikely that modifying the intake of a few nutrients or foods would substantially influence coronary outcomes,” wrote the researchers.

“Our findings support the strategy of investigating dietary patterns in cohort studies and randomized controlled trials for common and complex chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease.”

The review supports the Mediterranean diet pattern, rich in cereals, wine, fruits, nuts, legumes and whole grains, fish and olive oil, and low in dairy, meat, junk food and fat. The dietary pattern has been linked to longer life, less heart disease, and protection against some cancers. The diet’s main nutritional components include beta-carotene, vitamin C, tocopherols, polyphenols, and essential minerals.

Study details

Mente and his co-workers conducted a systematic review of 146 prospective cohort studies and 43 randomised controlled trials published between 1950 and 2007.

The data was pooled and a predefined algorithm applied. “We identified strong evidence of a causal relationship for protective factors, including intake of vegetables, nuts and monounsaturated fatty acids and Mediterranean, prudent and high-quality dietary patterns, and harmful factors, including intake of trans-fatty acids and foods with a high glycemic index or load and a western dietary pattern,” they wrote.

“Among these dietary exposures, however, only a Mediterranean dietary pattern has been studied in randomized controlled trials and significantly associated with coronary heart disease.”

Modest relationships were also observed linking reduced risk of heart disease and fish, omega-3 fatty acids from marine sources, folate, whole grains, alcohol, fruits, fibre and dietary vitamins E and C and beta carotene, report the researchers.

Weak evidence also a protective role for supplemental vitamin E and vitamin C, saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids and total fats, alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), meat, eggs and milk.

“The modest or weak evidence of these dietary exposures is mostly consistent with the findings of randomized controlled trials, although randomized controlled trials have yet to be conducted for several factors,”
wrote the authors.

“Taken together, these findings support a causal relationship between only a few dietary exposures and coronary heart disease, whereas the evidence for most individual nutrients or foods is too modest to be conclusive.”

I was reading an article on the website nutraingredients-usa.com on the value of Omega-3 and I thought I would share it with you. What are you doing about your Omega-3 deficiency?

Enjoy.

Omega-3 deficiency causes 96,000 US deaths per year, say researchers

By Shane Starling,

Omega-3 deficiency is the sixth biggest killer of Americans and more deadly than excess trans fat intake, according to a new study.

The Harvard University researchers looked at 12 dietary, lifestyle and metabolic risk factors such as tobacco smoking and high blood pressure and used a mathematical model to determine how many fatalities could have been prevented if better practices had been observed.

The study, jointly funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the Association of Schools of Public Health, drew on 2005 data from the US National Health Center for Health Statistics. They determined that there were 72,000-96,000 preventable deaths each year due to omega-3 deficiency, compared to 63,000-97,000 for high trans fat intake.

Power of diet

“This is a very interesting analysis,” said Andrew Shao, PhD, vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs at the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN).

“I think this analysis reinforces the long-held notion that the diet has a tremendously powerful impact on health and longevity and that the consumption of omega-3’s (along with fruits and veggies) by Americans is far from adequate.”

But he questioned the precision of the study findings due to complicating factors that had not been addressed.

“It is hard to say how definitive their findings are as far as the numbers are concerned, since chronic diseases and associated deaths are multifactorial,” he told NutraIngredients-USA.com this morning.

“As far as diet goes, is it the lack of fruits and veggies or the excess animal and processed foods that is the culprit? It is hard to say.”

He added that the study did not consider other key nutrients such as vitamin D.

Shao’s counterpart at the Natural Products Association, Dan Fabricant, PhD, emphasized the potential public health care savings that could be derived from better nutrition, especially in tight economic times, but called for further study.

“We need more clinical research that nails down why omega-3 is so effective,” Fabricant said. “This seems to be the last missing piece for omega-3s in terms of clarifying the picture for governmental/regulatory bodies of its efficacy.”

Shao added the study highlighted the importance of establishing a dietary reference intake (DRI) for omega-3 forms, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).

“Once these requirements are established, the government can undertake initiatives to improved Americans’ intake of these critical nutrients,” he observed.

“But until that happens, Americans are likely to continue to fall short in their omega-3 intake, and we see a glimpse of what the consequence can be from this study.”

Shocking

The study will do no harm to the omega-3 industry, with the world’s leading supplier, Ocean Nutrition Canada, calling the results “shocking”.

“…this new study validates that Omega-3 EPA/DHA is more than just part of a healthy diet…it’s a matter of life and death,” said Ocean Nutrition Canada’s vice president of marketing and communications, Lori Covert.

“We know that daily doses of Omega-3 EPA/DHA can help with many conditions, such as cardiovascular disease, and we’re committed to increasing consumer awareness about the drastic Omega-3 EPA/DHA deficiency in the Western diet,” Covert said.

Tobacco smoking ranked as the highest risk factor with 436,000 to 500,000 attributed preventable deaths, followed by high blood pressure (372,000 to 414,000), obesity (188,000 to 237,000), physical inactivity (164,000 to 222,000), high blood glucose (163,000 to 217,000), high LDL cholesterol (94,000 to 124,000) and high salt intake (97,000 to 107,000).

The other risk factors were alcohol use; low polyunsaturated fatty acids; low fruits and vegetables intake and alcohol use.

It is a sad day when we lose someone so young. The blessing is that Michael Jackson is free from all his pain and suffering.

We will be continually blessed with his music for as long as we live, which is a wonderful thing.

When I was younger (I am 65) I rarely listened to Michael’s music and therefore never appreciated him. For the past 5 years, I have been a DJ for my sister’s wedding reception facility (the Grand Loft) and now I play his music at nearly every reception. I have learned to appreciate him and his many talents. Hey, see old dogs can learn new tricks.

Michael will be missed my millions of people and my prayers go out to his family and friends.

There are movie stars who are great actors and then their are movie stars who are great human beings and I believe Will Smith is one of the latter. That does not mean he is a perfect human being, it’s not necessary to be perfect to be great.

You will enjoy this interview. He talks about the power of making a decision and how the universe will move out of your way. Sure, someone could argue with his choice of words, but the point is nothing happens until a decision is made.

Another point I would like to mention is that he said, I am willing to die on the treadmill. He further clarified what he meant when he said no one could out work him. What a great attitude.

Well, go ahead and enjoy the interview. You will want to watch it several times.
