Hello USANA Family!

I want to talk to you about one of USANA’s unique partnerships that could be extremely valuable to you, your friends and family, and your business.

As some of you are aware, for a little over a year now, USANA has dabbled in the “Webworld” of kids’ social networking. We partnered with a site known as Woogi World. Among other things, Woogi World teaches kids about nutrition and healthy habits in a fun online playland.

Now, for those of you who have little kids like me, you know they are amazing on computers. They love to be on them, playing games. I ran USANA’s IT department for more than 10 years, and they know their way around computers way better than I do. (No USANA system jokes please!)

Okay, I know the computer can’t replace me as a parent, but if it’s gonna be a babysitter for a while… I want their time to be fun, safe, and educational. Not only is the site free from sales pitches and potentially negative content, it also requires active parental involvement, which means I have to give my PC babysitter a break and be a parent!

I love the fact that Woogi World can keep the attention of my 8 year old while teaching him at the same time. This is because Woogi World was developed in collaboration with experts in using media to help kids learn, and it effectively teaches kids how to use the Internet as a learning tool!

I believe Woogi World’s mission ties in perfectly with USANA’s vision of a world free from disease. We all have heard the scary statistics about obesity in kids today. The nutrition section of Woogi World teaches kids the importance of making good choices for lifelong health. It also rewards them for taking what they learn and sharing it in their community, teaching them to be good influences on their peers. I was reading my email this morning and I found this article by Stephen Daniells on Omega-3 and I thought I should share it with my readers.

Omega-3 DHA boosts memory for healthy adults, not Alzheimer’s sufferers

Daily supplements with the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) may improve both memory function and heart health in healthy older adults, according to a new study from Martek.

The results, specific to people with a decline in cognitive function that occurs naturally with age, were presented at the Alzheimer’s Association 2009 International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease (ICAD 2009) in Vienna.

Almost 500 people took part in the randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center, six month study, which also recorded improvements in the heart rate of people receiving the DHA supplement. The study was funded by Martek Biosciences.

“In our study, healthy people with memory complaints who took algal DHA capsules for six months had almost double the reduction in errors on a test that measures learning and memory performance versus those who took a placebo,” said Yurko-Mauro, PhD, associate director of clinical research at Martek and lead researcher of the study.

“The benefit is roughly equivalent to having the learning and memory skills of someone three years younger.” Click here for more.

There are movie stars who are great actors and then their are movie stars who are great human beings and I believe Will Smith is one of the latter. That does not mean he is a perfect human being, it’s not necessary to be perfect to be great.

You will enjoy this interview. He talks about the power of making a decision and how the universe will move out of your way. Sure, someone could argue with his choice of words, but the point is nothing happens until a decision is made.

Another point I would like to mention is that he said, I am willing to die on the treadmill. He further clarified what he meant when he said no one could out work him. What a great attitude.
