How about a ten point plan to reduce unemployment in a big way.

 

Here is a test question. Which political party was responsible for the 100,000 plus workers who lost their jobs building carburetors? And of course the answer is neither, it was fuel injection. A new technology. I believe technology plays a larger role in the loss of jobs than either political party and conversely the creation of new jobs. Sure some regulations or lack of certain regulations may play a part, but it’s technology.

Remember the movie, The Graduate, when Mr. McQuire tells the movie’s main character, Ben Braddock, that there is “a great future in plastics”. Well, that is what needs to be said today about technology, that there is “a great future in technology”. Technology and owning your own business where technology plays a large role.

In any event, don’t wait until technology does away with your job, look towards technology as your friend and use it to set you free from the uncertain world of politics. Nobody cares more about you than you, so don’t wait, take charge right now.

Learn something new

Today I did not workout at the Y, instead I told my nephew I would help him stucco a commercial building.  We left Osawatomie for the job at 6:30 in the morning.  The job is in Lee’s Summit.  Unfortunately, the construction material had not been delivered to the job site, so we didn’t get a lot done today.

Tomorrow, I hope to be at the Y at 5am to swim at 5:30, but I may be going to the school to get in line for President Obama’s speech. The Y will close from 7 am to 2:30 pm for President Obama speech at the High School.  The Y is attached to the High School.  President Obama did not want the school or the Y to close.  The school will remain open during his speech, but the city police told the Y personnel they had to close the Y.

I think it will be very interesting tomorrow to listen to President Obama. I read Theodore Roosevelt’s speech and I think I will read it again tonight before I go to bed.  If you would like to read Roosevelt’s speech, please click here.

Below is a quote from Roosevelt’s speech. It comes from the end of the speech. I believe everyone needs to read Roosevelt’s speech, it was a speech to bring the warring G.O.P back together and it was a speech to spark interest in his re-elect which of course did not happen. President Obama sure would be surprised if he was able to do something that Roosevelt was not, bring the G.O.P. back together as a cohesive unit so a Republican could win the White House this next election. Roosevelt failed and Wilson won the 1912 election.

Don’t wait for any politician to help you, remember what Roosevelt said, you must provide a quality service. Start your own business. There were people who were in line at 6pm on Saturday evening to get their free tickets to President Obama’s speech on Tuesday, 6th, 2011 here at the Osawatomie High School.

My buddies, Galen and David, were there at 10 pm and spent the evening in their sleeping bags.  I believe they were about number 15 in line.

I was the DJ at a Christmas party which was held at the Grand Loft. I got home at 12:30 am and my niece called and said people were already in line at the school and asked if I wanted to go over there. I didn’t think very many people would come this late in the evening so I said I would get up at 4:15 and ride my bike over there.  I got there at 5:25 am and now there were about 70 people there. Obama to travel to Red State!

The tickets are FREE to hear President Obama speak in Osawatomie, Kansas

Obama is scheduled to speak at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday in the Osawatomie High School gymnasium at 12th and Trojan Drive.

The event is free and open to the public but tickets will be required. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting at noon Sunday at the Osawatomie High School main lobby. One ticket per person will be distributed and there is a limited number of tickets.

For security reasons, do not bring bags and limit personal items. No signs or banners are permitted. All attendees will go through airport-like security.

It is true. It is official. It’s in the local newspaper.

President Obama is indeed coming to my hometown, Osawatomie, Kansas on Tuesday, the 6th of December, 2011.

Why, I’ve been wonder since my friends and I started hearing the rumors down at the local cafe, the Whistle Stop, where we meet each morning for coffee and conversation.  We joked and ask, doesn’t he know Kansas is a Republican state.

Here it is 4am, it’s raining and I woke up my usual time to go to our local Y to workout, but its Saturday and it’s my rest day. So I thought I would fix me a cup of coffee and share a few of my thoughts about President Obama’s visit to Osawatomie.

Before I begin, I would like to share the history behind our name. Osawatomie is named after the Osage Indians and the Powwatomie Indians. I’m glad President Obama is coming to my hometown. I have deep respect for the office of the Presidency of our great Nation and it is an honor when the President decides to pay our town a visit. I also have respect for President Obama and believe he wants what he believes is in America’s best interest.  This is where I have to respectfully disagree with him. I believe our country needs to go in a different direction then the one he is taking us. I do not believe he shares the same views as President Theodore Roosevelt. Here you decide.
